IMCD is a global distributor and formulator of specialty chemicals and ingredients. It is a genuinely asset-light model with strong returns on capital, a history of disciplined bolt-on acquisitions and sticky supplier and customer relationships. UBS recently upgraded the stock on an expected recovery in profit growth. However, the recovery is still an expectation: forward EPS estimates were cut about 1.6% over the past month, and the company's large European exposure faces a customer base hit by high gas costs. A new CFO also arrives in 2027. It is a quality business, but the macro backdrop works against it in the near term.
ABOUT IMCD N.V.
Read
IMCD N.V. is a global leader in the sales, marketing, and distribution of specialty chemicals and food ingredients. Its extensive global network of technical experts, strong relationships with both suppliers and customers, and value-added services like formulation support create a wide moat. IMCD operates as a specialized distributor in a fragmented market, acting as a crucial link between producers and industrial end-users, benefiting from high switching costs and regulatory complexity.

Calmer than 60% of stocks we rank over the past year (36% a year).
How this is worked out
What it measures: day-to-day price moves over the past year, as a yearly figure, ranked against every stock we cover. Very calm under 20% a year, Calm 20 to 30%, Average 30 to 40%, Bumpy 40 to 55%, Very bumpy above that.
What we found: across about 13,500 stocks in 34 markets (2002 to 2025), past swings were a good guide to the next year's, and bumpier stocks fell further. How much further changed too much between eras to put a number on it.
Calm is not safe: a calm stock can still slide steadily.
