Best Swedish Stocks to Buy in 2026: Top-Ranked Stockholm Picks
Sweden has more listed companies per head than any country in Europe and an equity culture to match: tax-advantaged savings accounts that half the population uses, a retail investor base that follows small caps by name, and a corporate model built on serial acquirers, investment companies and founder-family control through dual-class shares. It is the deepest market MoatMap covers outside the big five, and it is priced as a quality market, which means a factor screen here has to earn its Value scores rather than find them lying around.
What follows is the top 10 Nasdaq Stockholm stocks by MoatMap’s composite StockRank, a percentile blend of Quality, Value and Momentum measured against a 25,000-stock global universe, above the same US$250M market-cap floor the live Best Swedish Stocks page applies, one line per company, ordinary shares only. Every name scores 92 or better globally. Then the part most lists skip: why three of the ten are holding companies, what their earnings multiples do and do not mean, and the share-class trap that catches every screen run over this market.
Why Swedish Stocks in 2026?
The structural case is the corporate model. Sweden exports a way of running companies: decentralised industrial groups that buy niche businesses at low multiples and let them keep their names, investment companies that hold controlling stakes for generations, and a governance culture in which the largest owner is expected to be present and patient. Lifco, Indutrade, Addtech and Lagercrantz built the serial-acquirer template; Investor and Industrivärden built the holding-company one. Both reward the Quality pillar as long as the balance sheet holds.
The valuation case is narrower than in the other markets MoatMap added this month, and it is worth saying so. Sweden is not cheap. What the screen finds is relative value inside a quality market: investment companies at discounts to net asset value, a telecom equipment maker the market has given up on, a medical-device company and an optical retailer at multiples below their own histories. Median Value across the ten below is 69, which is a full notch below Thailand or Poland and exactly what a quality market should produce.
The cyclical case is rates and the krona. Sweden’s property companies and other rate-sensitive names swing with the Riksbank, which cut aggressively through 2024 and 2025, and the krona weakened for most of a decade before recovering. Both cycles are now closer to tailwind than headwind, which is why Momentum scores across the list are strong without being extreme.

What the Numbers Are Telling You
Three of the ten are investment companies, and their P/E is not a P/E. Industrivärden (INDU-C.ST), Investor (INVE-B.ST) and Creades are listed holding companies whose reported earnings include unrealised gains on the stakes they own. In a rising market that makes their earnings multiples read at three to five times and their Quality and Value scores high by construction. They are superb businesses with decades of record, and the right number to read is the discount or premium to net asset value they publish monthly, not the ratio the screen computed.
Two gaming companies, at opposite ends of the cycle. Hacksaw has the highest Quality score on the list at 94 and a Momentum score of 92, a recently listed slot-game studio the market is still discovering. Evolution (EVO.ST), the live-casino supplier that was one of the great Swedish compounders of the last decade, sits at a Quality score of 83 and a Value score of 42 after a multi-year derating. One is being priced up, the other has been priced down, and the screen holds both because Quality carries them.
The operating businesses are the Value half. Tietoevry at 85, Arjo at 76 and Ericsson at 75 carry the highest Value scores, and all three are companies the market has stopped expecting much from: a Finnish IT-services group trading in Stockholm as a secondary line, a medical-device maker in a slow patch, and a telecom equipment champion whose Momentum score of 50 says exactly what investors think of the 5G cycle. Cheap and ignored is the profile; whether the businesses re-rate is the question the Quality scores in the 50s and 70s do not fully answer.
The serial acquirers are mostly absent, and that is a valuation statement. Only Storskogen made the ten, and it is the one that stumbled: a fast-growing acquirer that overextended, derated, and is now cheap enough to qualify with a Quality score of 58. Lifco, Indutrade, Addtech and Lagercrantz are all excellent and all priced as such; they sit further down the ranking on Value. In Sweden the best businesses are rarely the best-scoring stocks, and the screen is honest about it.
Share Classes, Preference Lines, and the Nordic Feed
Swedish companies commonly list A shares with ten votes and B shares with one, and the two lines of one company routinely both clear a screen because their prices differ slightly. The raw September ranking had Industrivärden A and C in the top five and Ericsson A and B side by side. The live country page collapses them to one line per company, and this post does the same by hand. Rarer still are C and D shares and preference shares with fixed or capped dividends; two of those, NP3’s preference line and Sagax’s D share, ranked inside the raw top ten with earnings multiples below three, an artefact of dividing a whole company’s earnings by a low-priced special class. They are excluded here, and a reader of the live page should read them the same way.
Disclosure is one of the best reasons to own Swedish shares, and MoatMap reads it at the source. Persons discharging managerial responsibilities must report trades to Finansinspektionen within three business days under the EU Market Abuse Regulation, and the regulator publishes them in a searchable register the same day with the person, the role, the instrument, the volume and the price. The Nordic insider feed reads that register daily, alongside the aggregated buyback reports, for Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Iceland. A high StockRank with a recent open-market purchase by a founder-family owner is the combination Swedish investors have followed for a century.
Access, Currency, and Tax
Access is as easy as any market in Europe. Every major international broker offers Nasdaq Stockholm, and liquidity is deep for the names above; the constraint appears only in the small-cap tail, which this list does not reach.
The krona has mattered more than the stocks in some years. It weakened for most of a decade against the euro and the dollar before recovering through 2025, so an unhedged foreign holder’s return has sometimes been dominated by the currency leg. It is a liquid, floating currency that moves with the Riksbank and with global risk appetite, and hedging it is cheap by emerging-market standards.
Tax is friendly for non-residents. Sweden withholds tax on dividends paid to non-residents, reduced under treaties, and most non-residents pay no Swedish capital gains tax, subject to residency rules. Confirm the current treatment with your broker before comparing a Swedish yield against another market’s.
How to Use This List
This is a screening output, not a recommended portfolio. Every position should pass three filters before sizing: (1) you can articulate why the business earns its returns, because Quality is necessary rather than sufficient; (2) the Value score matches what the number actually measures, which for the three investment companies means the discount to net asset value and not the P/E; and (3) you are holding the share class you intended to hold.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Swedish stocks to buy in 2026?
Per MoatMap’s StockRank screen, the top 10 Nasdaq Stockholm stocks above a US$250M floor, one line per company and ordinary shares only, are listed in the table above: Industrivärden, Hacksaw, Creades, Investor, Tietoevry, Ericsson, Arjo, Storskogen, Evolution and Synsam. All score 92+ on the composite StockRank globally.
Why do Swedish investment companies score so well?
Their reported earnings include unrealised gains on the stakes they own, so in a rising market their earnings multiples read at three to five times and their Quality and Value scores are high by construction. Read their published discount or premium to net asset value instead.
What is the difference between Swedish A and B shares?
A shares typically carry ten votes and B shares one; C and D shares and preference shares are rarer classes with special dividend terms. This list keeps one line per company and excludes the special classes whose per-share ratios are not comparable.
Does MoatMap track Swedish insider trades and buybacks?
Yes, through the Nordic feed, which reads Finansinspektionen’s insider register and the daily buyback reports for Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Iceland.
What is the currency risk of buying Swedish stocks?
The krona weakened for most of a decade before recovering, so an unhedged foreign holder’s return has in some years been dominated by the currency. Sweden withholds tax on dividends to non-residents with treaty relief; most non-residents pay no Swedish capital gains tax.
