Best Polish Stocks to Buy in 2026: Top-Ranked Warsaw Picks
The Warsaw Stock Exchange is two markets wearing one ticker prefix. The first is the WIG20: state-controlled banks, an energy champion, power utilities and a copper miner whose dividends and capital spending move with the political cycle. The second is the mid-cap bench underneath, founder-run software firms, distributors, chemical makers and consumer businesses that nobody with a mandate has covered properly since the 2014 pension reform removed their natural buyer. A factor screen does not know which market it is in; it just ranks. The result below is mostly the second one, with the two state names that happen to be cheap enough to qualify.
What follows is the top 10 Warsaw stocks by MoatMap’s composite StockRank, a percentile blend of Quality, Value and Momentum measured against a 25,000-stock global universe, above the same US$250M market-cap floor the live Best Polish Stocks page applies. Every name scores 94 or better globally. Then the part most lists skip: why no bank made it in a bank-heavy market, what state control does to a Value score, and how a foreigner gets in.
Why Polish Stocks in 2026?
The structural case is the economy. Poland has grown faster than almost any other EU member for three decades, it is the largest market in Central and Eastern Europe by a wide margin, and it has developed-market plumbing: EU regulation, MAR disclosure, a deep local brokerage industry. The index providers cannot agree what to call it, with FTSE Russell filing it under developed since 2018 and MSCI still under emerging, which means it draws passive flows from both camps and full attention from neither.
The valuation case is coverage. The 2014 reform gutted the private pension funds that had been Warsaw’s natural buyer of mid caps, and the employee capital plans introduced in 2019 are only slowly rebuilding a domestic bid. Foreign institutions own the WIG20 and stop there. A well-run Polish mid cap can sit at a single-digit earnings multiple for years simply because nobody is looking, and when it re-rates the move is large. Six of the ten names below are under US$1B in market cap.
The cyclical case is that the state champions got cheap at the same time. Windfall levies, politically set dividend policies and the energy transition have pushed Orlen and the power utilities to multiples that discount a lot of control risk, and the screen’s Value pillar notices. Whether that discount closes is a political question, which is the honest caveat on three of the ten names.

What the Numbers Are Telling You
No bank, in a market that is a third banks. PKO BP, Pekao and their peers had a strong run on high rates and the market has repriced them: they score well on Quality and Momentum but not on Value, and the first bank to appear is Erste Bank Polska at number 14. Three software companies made the list instead, Text (TXT.WA), Asseco Business Solutions and ASBIS, which is not the composition anyone expects from Warsaw and is exactly the point of ranking without index weight.
Value is high and Momentum is not, which is the mid-cap story. Median Value across the top 10 is 74 and median Momentum is 61.Kogeneracja (KGN.WA) at 89 and Enea at 85 lead on Value; Enea at 39 and Kogeneracja at 48 trail on Momentum. That pairing, cheap and still ignored, is the profile of a name the market has not started to forgive, and in Warsaw the reason is often the state stake rather than the business.
Quality is where the founders show. Text at 88, Krka at 85 and Kogeneracja at 83 are the standout Quality scores. Text is a Wroclaw software business selling customer-service chat to the world with margins that would be remarkable anywhere; Krka is a Slovenian generics manufacturer that dual-lists in Warsaw and counts as one of the region’s best-run companies. At the other end, Unimot scores 49 on Quality and is on the list because Value and Momentum carry a fuel distributor whose returns swing with margins.
Three of the ten are the state, and they need a different read. Orlen (PKN.WA) is the largest company on the list by a factor of twenty and the one every foreign investor has heard of. Enea and Kogeneracja, through its PGE parent, are the power sector. All three are cheap partly because the State Treasury decides their dividends, their capital plans and, occasionally, their windfall taxes. The Value score is real; the question is who gets to collect it.
Two Foreign Names, and Why They Belong
Two of the ten are not domiciled in Poland, and the live country page deliberately keeps them. Krka is a Slovenian company whose primary listing is Ljubljana and whose Warsaw line is a genuine second home with real volume. ASBIS is a Cyprus-domiciled IT distributor operating across Central and Eastern Europe whose only listing is Warsaw. A domicile filter, the kind MoatMap applies in Frankfurt, Paris and Mexico City where foreign quote lines swamp the list, would drop a company whose primary market is Warsaw to fix a problem Warsaw does not have: 222 of its 243 ranked names are Polish.
Disclosure is one of the better reasons to own Polish mid caps. The EU Market Abuse Regulation requires managers to report trades within three business days, the filings arrive as standardised notifications on the ESPI system with the person, role, volume and price, and the Poland insider feed reads them daily alongside the aggregated buyback reports. A high StockRank with a recent open-market director purchase is the combination worth waiting for, and in founder-run mid caps the founders do buy.
Access, Currency, and Tax
Access is easy. Most international brokers offer Warsaw trading and settlement is in zloty. Liquidity is the constraint for the smaller names: several of the ten trade only a few million dollars a day, so a basket is better sized at 2-3% per position than equal-weighted, and rebalanced quarterly.
The zloty is a euro-anchored float. It has been comparatively stable against the euro and moves more against the dollar, so a euro-based investor carries a smaller currency leg than a dollar-based one. Poland is not in the euro and has no near-term plan to join.
Dividends are withheld, gains are treaty-dependent. Poland withholds tax on dividends paid to non-residents, reduced under a wide treaty network, and taxes residents on gains and dividends at a flat rate. Confirm the current treatment with your broker before comparing a Polish yield against another market’s.
How to Use This List
This is a screening output, not a recommended portfolio. Every position should pass three filters before sizing: (1) you can articulate why the business earns its returns, because Quality is necessary rather than sufficient; (2) the Value score matches your read on the cycle and, for the state names, on the politics; and (3) liquidity is adequate for your position size at the price you want to pay.
For ongoing monitoring, bookmark /ranked-stocks filtered to Poland and re-check the top 25 quarterly. Names falling out of the top decile usually mean valuation has normalised or fundamentals have turned. For the wider framework, see how to screen stocks on Quality, Value and Momentum, and for the other markets added this month, the launch note.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Polish stocks to buy in 2026?
Per MoatMap’s StockRank screen, the top 10 Warsaw stocks above a US$250M floor are listed in the table above: Kogeneracja, Text, Krka, Selena FM, Unimot, ASBIS, Rainbow Tours, Asseco Business Solutions, Orlen and Enea. All score 94+ on the composite StockRank globally.
Is Poland an emerging or a developed market?
Both, depending on the index provider: FTSE Russell has filed it under developed since 2018 and MSCI still under emerging. It is an EU member with developed-market regulation and disclosure, so for a screen the label matters less than the structure.
Why is there no bank in the top 10 Polish stocks?
Banks are roughly a third of the WIG20 and the market has already repriced them after a strong run on high rates: good Quality and Momentum, weak Value. The first bank to appear is Erste Bank Polska at number 14.
How does state ownership affect Polish stocks?
Orlen, PKO BP, Pekao, PZU, PGE, Enea and KGHM are controlled by the State Treasury, and their dividends, capital spending and occasional windfall levies move with the political cycle. A high Value score on a state champion is partly a discount for that control.
How can foreigners buy Polish stocks, and what about the zloty?
Most international brokers offer Warsaw access and settlement is in zloty, a floating currency that has been comparatively stable against the euro. Poland withholds tax on dividends to non-residents, reduced under treaties, so confirm the current rules with your broker.
